Baker's Bench Woodworks started with a simple appreciation for working with wood and the satisfaction that comes from taking an idea and turning it into something real.
I'm Ron Baker, and I believe woodworking should be more than simply cutting, sanding, and assembling pieces of lumber.
It's about figuring out how to make something look right, feel right, and work right.
Every project presents a different challenge. Different wood. Different dimensions. Different ideas. Different people.
And that's what makes custom woodworking interesting.
WHY CUSTOM?
Because you shouldn't have to settle for something that is "close enough."
When you commission a custom piece, you have the opportunity to determine the size, style, materials, finish, details, and purpose.
Maybe you've looked everywhere and can't find what you're looking for.
Maybe you have an idea that doesn't exist in a store.
Or maybe you simply want something made specifically for you.
That's where I come in.
MY APPROACH
I don't believe in mass-producing the same thing over and over.
I prefer creating pieces that have their own personality.
Some projects are clean and simple. Others are complicated. Some start with very specific instructions, while others start with, "I have this idea...but I'm not sure how to explain it."
That's okay.
Part of the process is figuring it out together.
MADE WITH CHARACTER
Wood isn't plastic.
It has knots, grain, color variations, imperfections, and history.
Those characteristics are part of what makes it beautiful.
I don't want every piece to look exactly like the one before it.
I want each piece to look like it belongs to the person who owns it.
